First, know what you want.

If your in the market for a new sofa, you’ve probably been thinking about it for a while and therefore you pretty much have an idea of what you looking for in terms of configurations and material. If you’re not sure, then you shouldn’t rush into anything as impulse buys often aren’t the best.

Next, fabric or leather?

There are many benefits to both fabric and leather sofas. First lets talk fabric, The main benefits of fabric are it’s warmth and comfort, unlike leather where its hot and sticky in the summer and too cold in the winter, fabric pretty much stays the same throughout the year. The fact that is softer means it’s comfier as fabric doesn’t need to be broken in like leather does. Fabric also has a much broader range of colours and patterns than leather which can really make your home look unique. The main downside to fabric is that its absorbant so any dirt will work there way into the fabric as opposed to leather where you can just wipe it clean.

Now onto leather, Leather can add a certain elegance to a room that’s hard to do with fabric, due to its natural characteristics and. Leather sofas are timeless and never really go out of fashion, so you know they’re a great investment. The main benfit of leather is cleanliness as we all know, if any dirt gets on it, simply wipe it clean and problem solved!

After you have picked a fabric, measure up.

There is nothing worse than buying a new sofa and then when it arrives it doesnt’t fit. So make sure to take measurements of the space to ensure it will fit.
